FAQ

1 — HOW IS ‘MANDA MUDD APPLIED? IS IT DIFFICULT?

‘Manda Mudd is as easy as 1-2-3. Step 1 is applied with a roller or brush just as you would with paint. Steps 2 and 3 are applied with the trowel provided in the ‘Manda Mudd application kit. The video provided in the kit will show you what to do each step of the way.

2 — HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DO A ROOM?

The average bedroom or dining room can be completed in a day—start to finish.

3 — HOW DO I KNOW HOW MUCH TO ORDER?

Coverage for steps one and three cover approximately 300-400 square feet.  Step two covers 250 square feet on average.  For example:  A room of 8’ x 10’ will require one can each of all three steps, however to do a room somewhat larger you will only need one more can of step two. Generally for every one can of step one or step three, you will need two cans of step two.  YOU WILL NEED ALL 3 STEPS.

4 — HOW LONG DOES EACH COAT NEED TO DRY?

Depending on humidity, each step should be dry within one hour—(by the time you have completed step 1, you should be able to begin step 2 on your first wall, than the second, and third and so on…)

5 — WHAT IS THE COST?

For your three steps (one can each of the 3 steps used to create each color.) you can complete an average 8 x 10 room for $140.85. The cost of the application kit including the training video is MSRP $32.95.

6 — WHAT TOOLS WILL I NEED?

Other than a basic paint roller with 1/2” nap, a paint tray & tape for masking, all you need to apply ‘Manda Mudd is provided in the application kit, including an easy to follow instruction video.

7 — CAN I USE ‘MANDA MUDD IN MY KITCHEN OR BATHROOM, AND WHAT ABOUT HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS?

Yes, you can use ‘Manda Mudd in these areas. We recommend that your completed walls be sealed with a high quality coating. Several options are available to you. For a Matte Finish we recommend Tile Lab Grout Sealer (available at Home Depot of Lowes). This will protect your ‘Manda Mudd beautifully, with the least amount of change to the color or the sheen. A high quality clear coat, like Hirshfield’s Clear Coat will enhance the color of your ‘Manda Mudd and provide a quality satin sheen finish. Lastly, Floetrol rolled over the finish will provide a beautiful eggshell finish.

8 — IS ‘MANDA MUDD WASHABLE?

The lighter colors of ‘Manda Mudd are washable. The darker colors of ‘Manda Mudd will be altered if color if washed, therefore we recommend the completed walls be sealed with a clear coat. (see answer above.)

9 — CAN I HAVE CUSTOM COLORS MIXED?

NO! ‘Manda Mudd does not tint in the same way that paint does, therefore there is no custom tinting.

10 — CAN I USE STEPS 2 AND 3 OVER THE PAINT COLOR I ALREADY HAVE ON MY WALLS AND JUST SKIP STEP 1?

No, because each sep of ‘Manda Mudd is formulated to be compatible with the others. The use of ‘Manda Mudd with other products is not recommended.

11 — I HAVE WALLPAPER ON MY WALLS THAT I TRIED TO REMOVE BUT IT REFUSES TO COME OFF?  CAN ‘MANDA MUDD GO OVER MY UGLY WALLS?

Yes! If the walls are badly damaged, fill any deep gouges with wall spackle, remove any loose wallpaper, sand the seam, seal the walls with stain blocker/sealer (such as BIN, or KILZ) then proceed with steps 1,2, and 3 of ‘Manda Mudd.

12 — WHAT ABOUT COVERING MY OLD UGLY PANELING WITH ‘MANDA MUDD?

Yes you can. There are two ways this can be done. Option#1: Line the paneled walls with a wall liner paper as recommended by the manufacturer, prime with a good quality primer, then proceed with all three steps of ‘Manda Mudd. Option #2: Sand the paneling and wipe free of dust, then apply a bonder/sealer, (such as BIN, or KILZ.) This will help provide good adhesion.  Fill in all the grooves with a non-shrinking patching compound. This need not be completely smooth. Apply a coat of standard primer, then proceed with steps 1, 2 and 3 of ‘Manda Mudd. CANNOT BE USED ON TONGUE AND GROOVE WAINSCOTING! ‘Manda Mudd should not be used on any Tongue & Groove type paneling.

13 — WHAT IF I AM READY FOR A CHANGE IN A FEW YEARS?

You can paint over ‘Manda Mudd. You will however still have some texture. If you are concerned about the texture being permanent, we suggest you consider using a *wall liner paper applied to your wall prior to using ‘Manda Mudd. This can then be removed when you wish to return to smooth walls. (*consult a wall covering specialist regarding the use of wall liner paper.)

14 — WHAT ABOUT INTERRUPTIONS, MUST I COMPLETE THE ENTIRE PROJECT ONCE I HAVE BEGUN?

There is no need to be concerned about lap marks or keeping a wet edge, you can stop and start anytime. You can even go back over areas that are dry and make changes if you wish.

15 — WHAT CAN I DO IF AN AREA GETS DAMAGED?

Scrapes and divots can be touched up by simply using a bit of steps 2 or 3 on the trowel to cover up the damaged area. There is no pattern so no need to match anything.
